Dick Clark New Year's Eve 2012
Dick Clark is becoming synonymous with New Year’s Eve, so it’s no real surprise the renowned television host is back to ring in 2012 and celebrate the 40th anniversary of his iconic program, “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.”
Clark will once more make a look and feel alongside Ryan Seacrest about the annual ABC special, set to air beginning on December 31th at 10 p.m.
Seacrest has been co-hosting the extravaganza since 2005, one year afterwards Clark a break down stroke that impaired his speech. But since then, health troubles haven’t stopped the indefatigable 82-year-old Clark from taking a dynamic role in their show’s production.
“This is extremely imperative that you him. This is one kind of his children,” producer Larry Klein told the Associated Press.
Saturday’s program will recap highlights from the last 40 years in the show.
“The army of talent we’d join us over time has truly been outstanding, this also year we top it off by having an appearance by Lady Gaga,” Clark told ABC. “‘New Year’s Rockin’ Eve 2012’ offers to be just about the most exciting ever, and I’m proud to join in on the group.”
In an email interview with USA Today, Clark said he’s hosted several memorable New Year’s Eve celebrations, but he called festivities pursuing the Sept. 11 attacks “probably the most nerve-racking.”
For Seacrest, the longtime “American Idol” host does not have any problem sharing the spotlight with the man he watched in the media as a kid.
“He still runs the show. He’ll make as many appearances while he wants, and that i sort of just stand there and make ball when he passes it,” Seacrest told.
With temperatures forecast to stay the 40s, an increasing crowd of nearly a million folks are supposed to gather in Times Square to watch the ball make its iconic descent.
